March 2026 report

The month it turns on

Water warmed fast, the fish came a long way up, and the lake started fishing like spring.

The pattern
Spring rain put colour in the water and the fish liked it. By the last week we were working banks nobody had touched since October.
Crappie
The month people wait for. They pushed into the pockets and onto shallow brush and dock cables, and once we had the depth they were holding at, it repeated all over the lake.
Bass
Pre-spawn and staging on secondary points and the first flats inside the creeks. Better average size than anything since last spring.
