Beat the traffic
Hot, and it fished like it. Early or not at all, and the four hour trips were the right call.

- The pattern
- Running by five thirty and back at the ramp before the holiday crowd launched. Anything after mid morning was hard work for very little.
- Crappie
- Deep brush in eighteen to twenty five feet, and in the shade under the bigger docks. The fish were there all day — they just quit eating once the sun was up.
- Bass
- Topwater early and then deep. Not a big fish month, but a busy one, and the kids caught plenty.
